Nintendo Co (OTC:NTDOY) posted strong fiscal 2026 results, but the gaming giant warned of weaker sales and profits ahead as rising component costs, tariffs, and pricing pressures weigh on its Switch 2 business.

Posts Strong Fiscal 2026 Results

Nintendo reported fiscal 2026 revenue of 2.31 trillion yen, nearly doubling from 1.16 trillion yen a year earlier, while net profit climbed 52.1% to 424.0 billion yen.

The company sold 19.86 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles during the fiscal year. Nintendo Switch sales fell to 3.80 million units from 10.80 million units a year earlier.

Nintendo also continued to benefit from strong demand for its core entertainment franchises. “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” generated nearly $900 million globally, while “Pokémon Pokopia” became one of the Switch 2’s top-selling games.

AMC Global Media Inc. (NASDAQ:AMCX) (formerly known as AMC Networks) shares fell Friday after the entertainment company reported mixed first-quarter 2026 results, with revenue topping Wall Street estimates but earnings missing expectations.

The company reported first-quarter revenue of $542.13 million, down 2.4% year over year but ahead of the analyst consensus estimate of $540.73 million. Adjusted earnings came in at 8 cents per share, down 84.6% from a year earlier and below analyst estimates of 21 cents.

Domestic Revenue Declines Continue

Revenue in the domestic operations segment fell 3.2% year over year to $470.69 million.

Subscription revenue declined 2.6% to $305.28 million as growth in streaming revenue partially offset declines in affiliate revenue. Streaming revenue rose 11% to $174 million, driven primarily by price increases across AMC's services.

Streaming subscribers totaled 10.1 million at the end of the quarter, down 1% from 10.2 million a year earlier.

Affiliate revenue dropped 16% to $131 million due to declines in basic subscribers.

U.S. stock futures rose on Friday after Thursday’s declines. This followed an exchange of fire near the Strait of Hormuz between the U.S. and Iranian forces.

Speaking to an ABC reporter, Donald Trump referred to the exchange as “just a love tap,” according to a social media post by the journalist. He also added that the ceasefire was still in effect and ongoing.

U.S. nonfarm payrolls defied expectations in April, with total employment edging up by 115,000 jobs to comfortably beat the FactSet consensus estimate of a 65,000 rise. Despite the stronger-than-expected job growth, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.3%.

On the inflation front, average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls rose by 6 cents, or 0.2%, to $37.41, bringing the annual wage increase to 3.6%.

Meanwhile, the 10-year Treasury bond yielded 4.36%, and the two-year bond was at 3.90%. The CME Group's FedWatch tool‘s projections show markets pricing a 94.8% likelihood of the Federal Reserve leaving the current interest rates unchanged during June’s meeting.
