Eagle Point Credit: The 18% CLO Yield Is Not The Signal — The Equity Tranche Structure Beneath It Is

BLUF: ECC delivers exposure to CLO equity tranches with historically high cash yields — but the Q4 2025 results make the structural picture clear. NAV fell 18.6% in a single quarter to $5.70, leverage hit 48% against a stated target of 27.5–37.5%, and the monthly common distribution was cut 57% from $0.14 to $0.06. The yield is visible. The tranche structure is the signal.

The Stability Case

Eagle Point Credit is not a bond fund. It is not a REIT. It is a closed-end fund that invests primarily in the equity tranches of collateralized loan obligations — the last-loss, first-to-absorb-pain layer of a structured credit vehicle backed by leveraged loans.

That structural position is also the source of the yield. CLO equity captures the residual cash flow after all senior tranches are paid. When loans perform, the equity tranche receives an amplified return. ECC’s weighted average effective yield on new CLO equity investments in Q1 2025 was 18.9% at the time of investment. That number reflects the structure — not just the credit.

Management has been actively managing the portfolio. In 2025, the company completed 34 resets and 27 refinancings across its CLO positions, reducing weighted average CLO debt costs by approximately 42 basis points. The weighted average remaining reinvestment period held at 3.3 years — meaningful runway for CLO managers to redeploy capital. All company-level financing is fixed-rate with no maturities prior to April 2028, which removes near-term refinancing pressure from the capital structure.

Where Caution Is Warranted

The Q4 2025 results show what happens ...

<a href=https://www.benzinga.com/Opinion/26/04/52067607/eagle-point-credit-clo-yield-not-the-signal-equity-tranche-structure-beneath-it-is?utm_source=benzinga_taxonomy&utm_medium=rss_feed_free&utm_content=taxonomy_rss&utm_campaign=channel alt=Eagle Point Credit: The 18% CLO Yield Is Not The Signal — The Equity Tranche Structure Beneath It Is>Full story available on Benzinga.com

Cohen & Steers Quality Income Realty Fund: The REIT Wrapper Adds A Layer Most Yield Investors Miss

BLUF: RQI delivers 8.93% annualized distribution yield through a leveraged REIT portfolio — but the structure beneath that yield includes a 30% leverage layer, floating-rate exposure on 19% of borrowings, and a managed distribution policy that can include return of capital. The 8.93% yield is only the outer layer. The 30% leverage, 5.5% discount, and managed distribution policy are what determine how long that yield actually holds.

The Stability Case

RQI looks like a REIT income vehicle. Structurally, it is a leveraged wrapper around REIT exposure.

Cohen & Steers manages the portfolio with a 30% leverage target against managed assets. As of year-end 2025, 81% of that leverage is fixed-rate financing at a weighted average cost of approximately 2.5%, with terms locked through portions of 2028. The remaining 19% is floating-rate at approximately 4.6%, with a weighted average cost across all financing of 2.9%. This structure meaningfully reduces near-term interest rate risk on the borrowing side. The fund increased its monthly distribution from $0.08 to $0.09 per share in January 2026 — a signal of management confidence in the income trajectory.

NAV total return was 2.94% for 2025, modestly positive, and the five-year average annual total return stands at 6.44% on a NAV basis. For investors seeking diversified REIT exposure with monthly income, the structure has functioned as designed.

Where Caution Is Warranted

The 30% leverage layer amplifies everything — ...

<a href=https://www.benzinga.com/Opinion/26/04/52066924/cohen-steers-quality-income-realty-fund-reit-wrapper-adds-a-layer-most-yield-investors-miss?utm_source=benzinga_taxonomy&utm_medium=rss_feed_free&utm_content=taxonomy_rss&utm_campaign=channel alt=Cohen & Steers Quality Income Realty Fund: The REIT Wrapper Adds A Layer Most Yield Investors Miss>Full story available on Benzinga.com

Analysts expect the car company to report quarterly earnings of $2.62 per share. That’s down from $2.78 per share in the year-ago period. It reported $44.02 billion last year, according to Benzinga Pro.

Ahead of quarterly earnings, Deutsche Bank analyst Edison Yu upgraded GM from Hold to Buy on April 14 and raised the price target from $83 to $90.

With the recent buzz around General Motors, some investors may be eyeing potential gains from the company's dividends too. As of now, GM has an annual dividend yield of 0.92%, with a quarterly dividend of 18 cents per share (72 cents per year).

How To Earn $500 A Month From Verizon Stock Ahead Of Q1 Earnings

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) will release earnings for its first quarter before the opening bell on Monday, April 27.

Analysts expect the company to report quarterly earnings of $1.21 per share. That’s up from $1.19 per share in the year-ago period. The consensus estimate for Verizon's quarterly revenue is $34.86 billion (it reported $33.48 billion last year), according to Benzinga Pro.

AGNC's 14% Yield Vs. EPD's 6%: The Difference Isn't The Number—It's The Structure Underneath

BLUF: AGNC Investment Corp. yields 14%. Enterprise Products Partners L.P. yields 6%. The difference is not the yield — it’s the structure. One is funded through overnight repo with book value under pressure. The other is backed by contract cash flows and long-dated fixed-rate debt. Same category. Completely different risk.

Two high-yield income stocks. Same label. Completely different mechanics.

The Stability Case

Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE:EPD) is what structural durability looks like in the midstream sector.

Its Q4 2025 DCF coverage ratio was 1.85x — meaning the business generates 1.85 for every 1.00 it distributes. That buffer is not a margin. At scale, it functions as an internal funding mechanism for growth capital, reducing reliance on external debt markets.

The debt structure compounds the stability. EPD carries 31.9 billion in total debt, but 98% of it is fixed-rate at an average coupon of 4.7%, with a weighted average maturity of 18 years. Rate moves do not reprice its interest expense. Maturity walls do not create near-term refinancing pressure. The A− credit rating from S&P provides access to capital at competitive rates when needed.

The revenue base is contract-driven. Take-or-pay agreements with investment-grade counterparties convert volume risk into credit risk — a more manageable and analyzable form of exposure. EPD has grown its distribution for 27 consecutive years across multiple commodity cycles.

On the Buffer Half-Life™ four-layer CalcCard, EPD reads GREEN across all layers: coverage, book value trajectory, leverage, and liquidity.

Where Caution Is Warranted

AGNC Investment Corp. (NASDAQ:AGNC) operates a structurally different model. ...

<a href=https://www.benzinga.com/Opinion/26/04/52002271/agnc-vs-epd-the-difference-is-the-structure-underneath?utm_source=benzinga_taxonomy&utm_medium=rss_feed_free&utm_content=taxonomy_rss&utm_campaign=channel alt=AGNC's 14% Yield Vs.
How To Earn $500 A Month From HCA Healthcare Stock Ahead Of Q1 Earnings

HCA Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE:HCA) will release earnings for its first quarter before the opening bell on Friday, April 24.

Analysts expect the company to report quarterly earnings of $7.15 per share. That’s up from $6.45 per share in the year-ago period. The consensus estimate for HCA Healthcare's quarterly revenue is $19.07 billion (it reported $18.32 billion last year), according to Benzinga Pro.

With the recent buzz around HCA Healthcare, some investors may be eyeing potential gains from the company's dividends too. Currently, HCA has an annual dividend yield of 0.66%, which is a quarterly dividend amount of 78 cents per share ($3.12 per year).

So, how can investors exploit its dividend yield to pocket a regular $500 monthly?

Enterprise Products: 1.85x Distribution Coverage Ratio, But $5.1B In CapEx Is Changing What That Buffer Actually Means

BLUF: Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE:EPD) posted record Q4 2025 EBITDA of $2.70 billion with DCF coverage at 1.85x against a $0.55 quarterly distribution. A- credit rating. 18-year weighted average debt maturity. 98% fixed-rate debt at 4.7%. 27 consecutive years of distribution growth. The numbers read strong — among the strongest in midstream. But $5.1 billion in growth capex reframes the question. Coverage isn’t the issue. What happens to that coverage next is.

The Stability Case

Start with what EPD actually is — because the structure is worth understanding before the question gets asked.

A- credit rating. That’s not just the highest in midstream — it’s higher than most investment-grade utilities. 18-year weighted average debt maturity means the balance sheet isn’t exposed to near-term refinancing pressure. 98% of $31.9 billion in debt is fixed at an average cost of 4.7%. In a rate environment that has punished floating-rate borrowers, that number matters.

DCF coverage at 1.85x against a $0.55 quarterly distribution. The $2.20 annualized distribution has meaningful buffer before coverage compresses toward 1.0x. That’s not a thin cushion. Q4 2025 EBITDA came in at $2.70 billion — a quarterly record. 27 consecutive years of distribution growth. The income layer here is about as clean as midstream gets.

If you’re asking whether the distribution is in danger — it isn’t. Not even close.

That’s the right starting point. It’s just not the complete picture.

Where Caution Is Warranted

EPD’s balance sheet is strong because ...

<a href=https://www.benzinga.com/Opinion/26/04/51980374/enterprise-products-solid-distribution-coverage-ratio-but-growth-capex-is-changing-what-that-buffer-actua?utm_source=benzinga_taxonomy&utm_medium=rss_feed_free&utm_content=taxonomy_rss&utm_campaign=channel alt=Enterprise Products: 1.85x Distribution Coverage Ratio, But $5.1B In CapEx Is Changing What That Buffer Actually Means>Full story available on Benzinga.com

American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) will release earnings for its first quarter before the opening bell on Thursday, April 23.

Analysts expect the company to report quarterly earnings of $3.99 per share. That’s up from $3.64 per share in the year-ago period. The consensus estimate for American Express quarterly revenue is $18.61 billion (it reported $16.97 billion last year), according to Benzinga Pro.
