Airline Earnings Have Finished Boarding

Several airlines have reported quarterly numbers with declining air fares weighing on their revenue. United Continental Holdings Inc UAL, Alaska Air Group, Inc. ALK and Hawaiian Holdings, Inc. HA have reported better-than-expected earnings.

Here’s a look at the numbers so far:

  • United’s third quarter EPS of $3.11 beat consensus view of $2.88 and sales of $9.913 billion too topped $9.89 billion consensus.
  • American Airlines Group Inc AAL delivered third quarter adj. EPS of $2.80 and GAAP EPS of $1.40 versus Street view of $1.57. Sales of $10.594 billion are compared with consensus of $10.56 billion.
  • Alaska Air earned $2.20 a share on revenue of $1.566 billion versus Street view of $2.07/$1.56 billion.
  • In addition, Hawaiian Holdings third quarter EPS of $1.92 came in above consensus estimate of $1.80. Quarterly revenue stood at $671 million, also beating market expectations of $669 million.
  • Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines, Inc. DAL earned $1.70 a share on adjusted basis, which generally exclude one-time items.

At time of writing, shares of:

  • United rose 1.92 percent to $56.51.
  • Alaska Air were up 1.80 percent to $74.78.
  • Hawaiian Holdings were down 0.06 percent to $47.88.
  • Delta grew 1.20 percent to $41.39.
