RLD announced today that the 20th Century Fox
FOXA epic space-adventure The Martian generated 46% of its estimated $55M in the 3D format. RealD equipped 3D screens amassed 42% of that total posting the highest RealD 3D percentage of the year.
The performance of The Martian follows a strong summer season which saw eight 3D releases capture more than 40% of their opening weekend gross in 3D dollars including Jurassic World (48% 3D), Terminator: Genisys (45% 3D), San Andreas (44% 3D) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (42% 3D), among others.
