Nicki Minaj Looks To Dethrone Kim Kardashian As Mobile Game Debuts

Nicki Minaj is hoping to give Kim Kardashian a run for her money as the queen of celebrity lifestyle mobile games.

Mobile game maker Glu Mobile Inc GLUU announced the launch of "Nicki Minaj: The Empire," a free mobile game that allows users to engage in stories, socialize in chat rooms and write and record original music.

“Featuring multiple ways to engage with Nicki’s world apart from traditional narrative gameplay, this product illustrates the evolution of Glu’s celebrity gaming platform," Glu CEO Nick Earl says of the new game.

Of course, the smash hit "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood" has set the bar extremely high when it comes to celebrity lifestyle games. The Kardashian game reportedly generated more than $100 million in revenue for Glu since its 2014 launch.

Earlier this year, Glu said the Kardashian game has been downloaded 42 million times and users have engaged in 3.3 billion sessions since its launch.

Glu is attempting to re-create the success of the Kardashian game by creating similar celebrity lifestyle games based on other celebrityies, such as Minaj, Kendall and Kylie Jenner and Taylor Swift.

Unfortunately for Glu shareholders, the Kardashian game hasn’t been enough to boost the company’s slumping share price. Glu’s stock is now down 34.9 percent since the Kardashian game launched.
