SurveyMonkey CEO Dave Goldberg Passes Away Suddenly, Social Media World Pays Tribute

Dave Goldberg, CEO of SurveyMonkey and husband of Facebook Inc FB COO Sheryl Sandberg, died on Friday night.

In a Facebook post, SurveyMonkey announced the news, and said its chief executive "passed away suddenly."

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg also paid tribute.

Goldberg, who joined SurveyMonkey in the spring of 2009, founded online music platform Launch Media in 1994 before joining Yahoo! after the company was acquired in 2001.

While still with Yahoo in 2006, Goldberg was named one of Billboard's "top power players in digital music," according to SurveyMonkey.
