UPDATE: Nordion Posts Higher FQ3 Profit

Nordion

reported a rise in its fiscal third-quarter profit. Nordion's quarterly profit surged to $180.4 million, or $2.91 per share, from $12.3 million, or $0.20 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding one-time items, it earned $0.20 per share. Its revenue gained 6.8% to $71.7 million. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $0.18 per share on revenue of $61 million. Nordion's gross margin came in flat at 55%. Nordion shares closed at $7.85 yesterday.
